June 14, 2010 - What a way to start a new week with 5 new little ones! After a rough night, 2 hours of consistent pushing, we had an emergency C-Section this morning. Thank GOD for Dr. Polly Lewis (Carriage House Animal Hospital in Kasson, MN) who was ready upon our arrival, allowed us to participate in the entire processs. During the initial exam, Dr. Polly determined the head was to large to pass, and the c-section was under way, during the process we inquired about spaying, and Dr. Polly thought it was a great idea. Her teeth still need to be addressed, but not today, a c-section and a spay are enough for any girl to go through in a day!!
We gave thanks for saving this little one 3 weeks ago, because had she been in the breeder mill, today she would have died. This realization is humbling and reminds us why we do what we do, we rescue and today we welcome new life and give thanks for hers.
Update on June 21: Samantha is protective of her puppies. If a stranger is in her "room" she makes sure she lets them know that she is in charge with her gentle barking!
